Adult Learning
The FAB Adult Learning —all of which evolved through the advocacy and input of our members - are designed to help Lawrence adults build their skills in language, culture, and technology and improve their access to higher education.
More than a series of classes, the clubs emphasize relationship-building and are focused around the core CommunityWorks values of family asset building, mutual support, and collective action.
Program members have the opportunity to get to know a wide variety of community members and engage in other asset-building, community organizing, and physical revitalization projects. More than 150 adults participate in one or more class every semester.
There are a series of ESL classes, a Pre-GED & GED classes, a series of Computer Classes, our New Skills Academy and other programs such as Wallet Wise and Individual Accounts that provide learning opportunities for adults. Most of our educational programs require a nominal fee, while some are free only requiring time commitment. Child care is provided during time of learning, accommodating parent’s needs. Space is limited and adults will be served on a first come, first serve basis.
