NOF Internship Program

LCW’s Network Organizing Forum (The NOF) recently launched the NOF Internship – an advanced leadership opportunity for LCW Network Members focused on a) mastery of the ‘network-centric organizing approach’ and b) documentation and training skills related to disseminating the network-centric approach within the Network and across the Country.

The NOF Internship brings members into the center of developing, designing and sharing our approach and our lessons, and offers the opportunity to be key participants in the nation-wide learning community.

The Internship includes special group projects, travel, peer support and independent and collaborative study. Each Intern will also set up and manage an on-line blog to chronicle their year. The Internship is lead by Alma Couverthie, the NOF Director and is one of several “stipended” volunteer and leadership development opportunities offered by the Network, including the Member-Link Program, the Reviviendo Fellowships and the NeighborCircle Facilitator and Peer Leadership programs. The first NOF Internship Cohort was recruited in March and began work in May.

Meet The NOF Interns!

The NOF Internship program started in 2009 with the purpose of developing a growing circle of members who are/have been intimately involved in the development of the codification and/or the communication of the intellectual and practice elements of the Network-Centric Organizing approach. Emphasis is on the mastery of the "network-centric" approach and the ability to communicate that approach in writing, and in training and technical assistance settings.
To this date, our NOF interns have
  • Actively participated in trainings our members, from NeighborCircle, to facilitation trainings, to how to have effective conversations.
  • Helped shape our member Open Houses to make them a real network experience for new members and more experienced members.
  • Participated in a 4 day immersion with our sister organization Impact-Silver Spring, were they help reach out to new members and coordinate a community gathering with over 70 people in attendance.
  • Provided NeighborCircle training to our friends at the John Hope Settlement House in Providence, RI.  Maria has kept in touch with the group, mentoring their new facilitators.
  • Documented with video and photos at least 20 LCW events
  • Published their work in 5 blogs
